The New Rochelle Sports Hall of Fame was founded as part of the New Rochelle Tricentennial Celebration in 1988. Plaques honoring previous New Rochelle inductees are displayed on the Hall of Fame Wall on the ground entrance to City Hall.

Hall of Fame Honorees are athletes, coaches, trainers, officials and others who have made significant contributions to the sports history of New Rochelle and who may have brought reflected honors to our city through their sports activities outside New Rochelle. The honorees are also outstanding examples of how the values learned from sports can be applied to the building of successful lives.

Many of the Hall athletes have gone on to distinguished world, national and local leadership positions -- some in education, many in coaching and other who have contributed via community service careers.

Edward A. Murphy Memorial

Scholarship Fund

The New Rochelle Sports Hall of Fame Scholarship Fund was established to recognize outstanding students graduating from one of New Rochelle's five high schools, who have demonstrated excellence in education, sports and community involvement. Funds for the Scholarship Fund are made possible from the proceeds of the Hall of Fame Annual Installation Dinner and Raffle, and from contributions from individuals and businesses.

Our Scholarship Fund needs to be replenished again so that we may continue to recognize the deserving young men and women from our community. You can help us to continue the worthwhile endeavor by making a contribution to the New Rochelle Sports Hall of Fame Scholarship Fund and participating in our annual raffle.

The New Rochelle Sports Hall of Fame has enjoyed its role of honoring and memorializing athletes for their on-field and off-field lifetime accomplishments. The criteria we have established are based on outstanding athletic participation, grade point average, SAT/ACT scores and an essay submitted by the senior applicant.

Don Zaccagnino Memorial Award

The New Rochelle Sports Hall of Fame sponsors the annual Don Zaccagnino Sports Award. It is presented to a deserving team in recognition of an outstanding athletic performance. The presentation takes place at our annual Induction Dinner.

The Hall of Fame accepts nominations for the award which should describe the athletic performance considered worthy. The nomination should be no more than 2 pages in length, together with verifying accounts of the performance -- i.e.: news articles. The nomination should be forwarded to New Rochelle Sports Hall of Fame, P.O. Box 86, New Rochelle, New York 10801. The deadline is May 15th. For further information, please call (914) 943-9119.
