Kevin Bergin

~ 2012 ~

Kevin Bergin achieved stardom playing baseball, basketball, football and running track.  As a senior quarterback, he earned All-County honors, All-Metropolitan honors and was a Con Edison award winner.  Kevin was awarded a full student-athlete football scholarship to Hofstra University.  To this day, Kevin is considered one of the greatest defensive backs in Hofstra University.  He continues to hold four records: the longest interception return (100 yards), most interceptions in one game (3), most interceptions yards in one game (227) and the most interception yards in one season (375).  As football coach, Kevin had only one losing season (his first season) and won his league championship four times.  He also was voted Coach of the Year four times, and is a member of the Blessed Sacrament Hall of Fame.

Keith Dollar

~ 2012 ~

Keith Dollar one of a handful of NRHS athletes ever to letter in four sports.  Keith was voted Honorable Mention All-County football team.  Keith played hockey for three years (team captain for two years) and was an twice unanimous choice first string All-County team.  Keith was a Con Ed winner, All-County baseball player and played varsity golf.  College saw Keith excel in hockey, golf and baseball.  During college Keith served in the US Coast Guard.  His love and participation in sports continued post graduation with certification as a USPTA tennis pro. He has been a state ranked player since he was in his 30’s.  Keith has coached his three children to state rankings in tennis.  Golf is also still a part of Keith’s life, having won numerous club championships in both golf and tennis and has 3 hole-in-ones.

Kelly Johnson

~ 2012 ~

Kelly Johnson is one of a handful of Youth Service Providers that has devoted his entire life to the needs of New Rochelle’s youth.  Kelly has spent well over 30 years coaching, counseling, educating and promoting valuable programs.  In 1979, Kelly began his career with the New Rochelle Youth Bureau as a Community Project Aide.  In 1986, he was also  hired as Director of the Boys and Girls Club of New Rochelle (Remington Unit).  Kelly founded and directed the Remington Rebels basketball program.  The leadership skills that Kelly Johnson possessed propelled him to become Executive Director of the New Rochelle Youth Bureau, Deputy of Parks and Recreation, Vice President of the New Rochelle Basketball Association, ADA Officer for the city, among many other vital responsibilities.

Calvin Whitfield

~ 2012 ~

Calvin was considered one of the top Youth Tackle League players ever.  While attending NRHS he played varsity football for three years and was captain and All-League of the 1977 undefeated State Champions. He also ran track and was selected to the 1978 indoor State Championship team and All-County team. As a University of Rhode Island Ram Cal earned First Team All-Yankee Conference and All-New England honors.  As a tailback Cal shattered a 30 year old record, setting a new single season rushing recored by carrying the ball 283 times, rushing for 1,200 yards (a mark held for 16 years) and 1,657 all purpose yards (another record.)  As a freshman sprinter, Cal was undefeated in the indoor 50 yard dash. Calvin played for the Montreal Alouettes of the CFL and was a successful high school coach.
